Power has been restored to thousands of Lansing Board of Water and Light customers.

BWL spokesperson Steve Serkaian tells FOX 47 News that electricity was fully restored at 11:25 a.m. The outage began around 10 a.m.

The total outage number of customers who lost power was actually 13,753. BWL initially reported 30,000 customers had lost power, because that is the total amount of customers served by the Eckert substation.

However, once workers were able to examine the substation closer, they found that not the entire substation had gone down.

FOX 47 was off-air during this time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused to all of our viewers.

BWL experts are still working to determine the cause of the problem.

The Board of Water & Light is reporting that the Eckert Substation lost power, causing widespread outages. The utility tells FOX 47 News that over 30,000 customers have no power. Crews are responding to make repairs. The utility asks customers to check the Outage Center for updates as they become available.

The outage center for Lansing's Board of Water & Light shows over 3200 customers in Lansing that have no power on the morning of Tuesday, April 4, 2017.

The map shows restoration time is expected between 4:00-5:00 Tuesday afternoon.

Treat intersections where traffic lights have been affected as four-way stops until power is restored.
