What to do before you start the air conditioner

With the weather heating up this week, some of us are going to be running the air conditioner for the first time since last summer.

There are a few things you can do to make it go smoothly.

For starters, make sure if you put a cover on the outdoor unit, you remove it before turning the air condition on. Leaving it on can damage or destroy the unit.

Check the refrigerant lines to make sure they're still insulated and make sure the electrical wiring is not exposed.

You should replace the air filter at the start of the season and again after three months. And make sure there's nothing blocking the vents around the house.
