JACKSON, Mich. — A street in downtown Jackson will be closing down for underground work this week.
The city of Jackson is closing down West Cortland Street between South Jackson Street and South Mechanic Street starting Wednesday, May 22.
A contractor working for Consumers Energy will be conducting utility work below the street surface.
The closure will not require excavations. Businesses along West Cortland Street will be accessible but through traffic will not be able to pass through the block.
The road is expected to reopen on Friday, May 24.
