Almost three months into the school year and teachers in the Waverly School District are still working without a contract.

Teachers held a sit-in at the Lansing Mall in Delta Township Wednesday night to show the community their day doesn't end when the school bell rings. Teachers say they go home each night to grade homework. They say they also tutor students before, during, and after school.

Waverly teachers say they work tirelessly because they love helping students and just want to be appreciated for their efforts. Teachers say there are a lot of things on the bargaining table and they are trying to negotiate in good faith with the district but say they have not received a response from the district.

At the beginning of the school year, Waverly Superintendent Terry Urquhart told us, there was still work to do by both sides, but believed there would be a resolution soon.
