LANSING, Mich. — Washington Square in downtown Lansing is the place to be on Thursday, March 5th, as downtown Lansing partners with local artists, dining establishments, as well as neighboring shops in a night of pop-up placemaking activities. Following a Michigan-based theme that starts with a Michigan chef takeover at EnVie, downtown residents and visitors will be able to walk up and down Washington Square to shop, dine, and dance local!
“This month we’re expanding on the successful Downtown Traffic JAM! pop-up events that we have been holding, bringing light and life to multiple spaces downtown after 5:00 p.m.” states Downtown Lansing Inc. Executive Director, Cathleen Edgerly. We’re looking forward to creating even more of an experience depending on your interests, found all up and down Washington Sq.
The evening’s activities include:
- Old Town Annex: A pop-up shop featuring multiple Old Town retailers will occupy the beautiful former Liebermann’s retail space, at 113 S. Washington Sq. This building is the last intact George Nelson retail designed building in the world, providing the perfect showcase space for Old Town shops to be open to both the lunchtime and evening downtown crowd. The Old Town Annex will be open 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and 4:30-8:00 p.m.
- Downtown Traffic JAM!: Are you down?! The March Downtown Traffic JAM! will have Washington Sq. hopping as Downtown Lansing Inc. brings you an hour-long performance from hip-hop artist Ozay Moore and The Corzo Effect in the former Whipped building, located at 216 S. Washington Sq. Doors open at 4:30 pm ($5 entry fee) and the concert kicks off at 5 pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at: https://downtowntrafficjammarch.eventbrite.com
- Pop-Up Pastry Bakery at Soul Nutrition: Head to one of downtown Lansing’s newest businesses for energizing teas or a shake as well as purchase homemade baked goods from Puff & Stuff – a puff pastry pop-up bakery!
- Michigan Dinner at EnVie: Take a night off from cooking and head downtown for a Michigan-themed dinner experience. Thursday evening only, EnVie will feature a special Michigan menu full of food and drink options infused with Michigan-based products. Regular menu items will also be available. Reservations are recommended, so make yours today at: (517) 318-6135.
