DETROIT, Mich. — Today, more than 912,000 Walmart U.S. associates will receive a share of nearly $207 million in cash bonuses, as the company experienced a strong 4.2 percent fourth quarter comp sales growth. Associates are receiving their bonuses in paychecks received March 7. In Michigan, associates will be awarded more than $2.7 million for fourth quarter performance.

“We’re working in a new world of retail where change happens quickly, and we are proud how Walmart associates are leading the industry in utilizing new innovations to ensure our customers have the best shopping experience possible,” said Tracy Ferschweiler, Walmart Regional General Manager for Michigan. “The company’s recent performance is a direct result of our associates’ efforts to service our customers and communities and these bonuses recognize the great work they do every day.”

Quarterly bonuses are part of an overall incentive plan designed to reward associates whose stores achieve sales and customer service goals. Both full- and part-time associates are eligible for cash bonuses based on store performance.

For the full fiscal year, Walmart U.S. associates received nearly $800 million in store performance-based bonuses. In Michigan, associates shared more than $14.5 million in store performance-based bonuses for the full fiscal year.

“Every day our Walmart associates come to work with one single goal in mind and that is to serve our customers,” said Sterling Heights Walmart Store Manager Julie Kern. “We work in a highly competitive industry where the customers are now looking for ways to save time as well as their money. I’m proud how our associates are able to adapt to those changes by utilizing new innovations and training to be the difference maker for our business and our customers.”
