LANSING, Mich. — A voter registration tent will be located outside of the Arts and Sciences building at LCC's downtown campus from 9 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 through the 29.

The mobile tent will provide a convenient solution and guidance for people registering to vote on-site, and provide information about new options to vote from home and voting early.

"We need to engage and communicate with first time and infrequent voters," Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope said. "Over 2,000 18-21-year olds are estimated not to be registered to vote in the City of Lansing."

New programs that make voting more convenient could be beneficial to busy students.

The U.S. Census Bureau published a report that says millennials are the only age group to increase in voter turnout since 2012.

Showing a spike in voters age 18 to 29 during the 2016 elections.

"Having this voter registration drive on the Washington Mall during Welcome Week will make it convenient for our students who juggle school, work and family to participate in an important aspect of our communities civil rights," Lawrence Hidalgo, Chair of the LCC Board of Trustees said.
