LANSING, Mich. — A group of volunteers worked Monday to brighten up the crosswalks heading into Mount Hope STEM Academy.

The group calls themselves the "Neighbors of Scott Woods," and they say the brighter crosswalks are a way to welcome everyone to the quiet neighborhood on Lansing's south side.

Each crosswalk is painted bright blue with the neighborhood association's tree logo at one end.

The project was funded by the mayor's neighborhood advisory board through its neighborhood grant program.
