We told you Wednesday about neighbors frustrated with the amount of trash piling up outside a home that had been sitting for a while.
Those neighbors living on Johnson Street in Charlotte called the city when they were sick of looking at an excessive amount of trash piling up outside this home for over a month. They say tickets were being written but no action was being taken.
That's when they contacted us.
"Residence had a number of concerns when it came to their neighbors keeping up with their front yard and they tried to pitch in and help, but they said the problem only got worse."
The most important concern being their children.
"Playing out in the front yard all the the dog mess, all the feces would build up over time, and i'd ask them to clean it up and they would and i'd help clean it up. That and just everything that's piled up in their backyard, just general safety of the kids really."
Our story had been trending on Facebook when morning star tree services, a volunteer business, saw a picture and decided to lend a hand.
"It's a house that a family was in need for, there was obviously some stuff sitting around in the yard but it's nothing that the community couldn't have helped picked up, shouldn't have got to this point."
The point, that the residents were upset maybe even a bit hurt.
The renters living in the home declined an on camera interview multiple times.
Volunteers left the house much cleaner after several trailer loads of trash.
Neighbors hope it's a wake up call.
"They need the initial help the initial bump forward and they should do pretty good after this, they're great people they just need the helping hand"
