A man is dead after drowning in Vandercook Lake Co. Park.
Police confirm that Dennis Richard Henderson, 42, from the Vandercook Lake area drown at Vandercook Lake County Park. The call came in before 9 p.m. on July 3, 2018.
Officials say Henderson, a woman, and two children were swimming on a foam flotation mat when it overturned. The children and woman, were able to swim to the surface. Henderson never came up, and could not be located until 10:30 p.m. that night.
Witnesses tell News 10 people formed a human chain in the water to try to reach the man. Members of the Sheriff's Office Dive Team and Marine Patrol divisions assisted in the search.
When Henderson was located he was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance by paramedics where he was pronounced dead.
The drowning is under investigation.
