If you have a child ready for Kindergarten, you may be wondering what vaccines you are required to get before your little darling gets on the bus.

The Ionia County Health Department (ICHD) is reminding parents that April usually means Kindergarten Round Ups and part of that preparation is knowing your child's immunization record.

The ICHD says that immunization is the "single most important way parents can protect their children from serious disease.

A child who is fully immunized and ready to start Kindergarten in the fall will have had these vaccinations:

- 4 doses of DTap (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
- 3 doses of Hepatitis B
- 2 doses of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- 4 doses of Polio
- 2 doses of Chickenpox (Varicella)

The following immunizations are highly recommended, though not required, for a child ready to start Kindergarten in the fall:
- Influenza (flu)
- 2 doses of Hepatitis A"

If your child is not up to date on shots, now is the perfect time to make an appointment with your doctor or call the ICHD for help.
