Utah dad calls in bomb threat

Posted

It should have been an exciting time for a new father. Instead, he's in big trouble with the law.

Police say the man called in a bomb threat at a hospital so he could get there in time for the birth of his child.

A grand jury indicted him on charges of making a false bomb threat.

Investigators say 26-year-old Michael Morlang was in Idaho when he called the Utah hospital where his wife was scheduled to have a c-section.

The hospital was evacuated and emergency room patients had to get treatment at another hospital 30 miles away.

One patient was already under anesthesia and had to be woken up when the hospital was evacuated.

If convicted, Morlang faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
