LANSING TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Lansing Township Police have confirmed that a 17-year-old from Lansing Township will be charged for criminal sexual conduct and home invasion.

On Thursday morning, the teen entered a Lansing Township home through the window and sexually assaulted a woman there, implying he had a gun.

Police say the victim and suspect did not know each other and this appears to have been a random act.

It happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Clement Road.

Officers responded after receiving a 911 call where the woman, who is in her late 30s, dialed the phone but didn't say a word but left the line open.

Upon arrival, they could see the suspect inside the home. He left through a back door and took off on foot.

Lansing Township officers chased him with the help of Lansing Police, East Lansing Police K9, Michigan State Police and the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office.

He was caught in a remote area near Stoll Road South in Eaton County after 7 a.m. and taken to a hospital for injuries sustained during the chase.

The victim also was taken to the hospital for unknown injuries.

No weapon was found on the suspect.

The 17-year-old is in the Ingham County jail and could be arraigned on Friday.
