HASTINGS, Mich. — A man from Barry County has been charged with killing 21-year-old Bryce DeGood of Haslett.
Jon Burnett of Gun Lake was arraigned Monday on two counts of open murder, one count each of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault by strangulation and four counts of felony firearm.
Prosecutors say Burnett first attacked his wife the shot and killed DeGood and 71-year-old Gary Peake Friday afternoon. DeGood was found dead in a ditch. Peake's body was found in a home.
Investigators have not said what led to the shootings. Burnett is due back in court on July 3. News 10 and wilx.com will keep you updated on the case.
