LANSING, Mich. — A heads-up to drivers in our area.
We have a couple of road closures to report.
The first is in Jackson.
Construction on a residential street in Jackson's Under the Oaks neighborhood began Tuesday.
One block of Second Street between Washington Avenue and Wildwood Avenue will be totally reconstructed.
City officials say one block of Second Street between Washington Avenue and Wildwood Avenue has not been repaired in decades.
Residents have complained that potholes and uneven pavement make driving or walking on this street difficult.
Crews will first remove the total depth of pavement to install a new water main and sanitary sewer piping.
Once that is complete, work will then move above ground to install new curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
The street is scheduled to receive a fresh layer of pavement, along with new decorative lighting.
Construction is expected to be completed toward the end of June.
Residents in that area will still be able to use the road during construction period, but they are asked not to park in the street.
While in Stockbridge, Oakley Rd. from Swan Rd. to Budd Rd. was closed Tuesday morning and will remain closed overnight.
Crews are replacing a cross tube in that area.
Drivers should seek an alternate route.
