UPDATE: Power restored, but Grand Ledge outage impacted 9,000 Consumer Energy customers

GRAND LEDGE, Mich — Thursday morning a power outage impacted in Grand Ledge and surrounding areas effected more than 9,000 customers.

According to Consumers Energy, the outage was caused by equipment failure.

By 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, power had been restored to all areas impacted.

Grand Ledge Public Schools said in a Facebook post, Thursday morning, that power was out through much of the district.

"Students and staff are safe. As bus drivers finish routes, they are being held on standby," the post said.

There was also an outage in the Portland area, although the city said on Facebook, "It's a Consumers issue and not the Board of Light and Power."
