LANSING, Mich. — Police say they have a person in custody following the shooting at Ferris Park on Monday night.
Police are not calling that person a suspect at this time, but they are saying they believe there is "no future ongoing threat to the public" related to the shooting.
Taijion Gant,17, was the victim killed in the shooting.
Investigators said it started when two groups of people got into an argument at the park.
It got physical and then shots were fired. A 16-year-old and 19-year-old were also shot.
At this time, all we know about them is that they're in stable condition at a hospital.
The Ferris Park shooting is not the only shooting that people were talking about Monday night.
Social media exploded with people posting and sharing reports of an active shooter at multiple locations in the city.
Police said they checked out those reports and found no one else who'd been shot.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor released a statement saying "there were also reports of other shooters throughout the city, those reports are unsubstantiated, there was only one incident."
However, that turned out to be incorrect. Shots were fired at the Stonecrest Townhomes on Risdale Avenue on the city's west side.
A car window was shot out and people who live there say police were on the scene collecting shell casings.
Fox 47 did hear all the reports of shots fired coming in Monday night, but chose not to report them except for what police told us on the record about the Ferris Park shooting.
We don't report unconfirmed calls on the police scanner because they often turn out to be false or exaggerated.
The same goes for what we see on social media.
Fox 47 will follow up on tips, like we did with the Risdale shots fired.
