UPDATE: Police locate man that broke into home and shot homeowner

After receiving a tip, the Isabella County Sheriff's Office was able to locate and take into custody Kenneth Maddux.

The tip led them to a mobile home in Chippewa Township.

The officers created a perimeter around the location and make their presence known. One man came out immediately and he confirmed that Maddux was inside. 

Maddux was taken into custody with no further issues. 

Upon entrance into the mobile home - officers discovered an active Methamphetamine lab inside and took into custody the man responsible for running it.

Police are looking for a man that broke into a home in Mt. Pleasant where the homeowner was shot. 

The Isabella County Sheriff's department is reporting that the suspect ran from the home prior to their arrival. The victim stated that she heard two voices during the break-in, one which was identified as Kenneth Maddox. A friend of the victim who was in the home at the time, stated that he woke up and found a strange man in the house. They fought and a gun went off. 

The homeowner was taken to the hospital, her condition is unknown.

Police are trying to confirm if there were one or two suspects involved.

They believe that Kenneth Maddux is in the area of Isabella County and Midland County line south of M-20. He was last seen wearing an orange or red t-shirt and blue jeans.

Police need your help, if you know of his whereabouts, they say do not contact him instead call 911.
