Update: Police investigate armed robbery in Hillsdale County

UPDATE: On November 16, 2018, Troopers were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery at the party store located on Bankers Road at Hemlock Road.

A male subject entered the store wearing sunglasses and a bandana. The suspect indicated he had a gun and was demanding money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise from the store.

Deputies from the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene and with the investigation. Information from Hillsdale County Corrections Officers and tips from citizens on the Hillsdale Sheriff’s web site led to the identification of a suspect, a 22 year old male from Camden.

Michigan State Police Troopers gathered further information linking the suspect to this crime. Ohio State Troopers attempted to stop the suspect early Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, for a broken headlight.

The suspect failed to stop and led Ohio State Troopers on a pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed successfully and disabled the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody and is facing local charges. The Michigan State Police will be seeking charges and extradition from Ohio. Identification of the suspect will be released pending arraignment.
