Northbound I-69 at Cochran in Charlotte is still closed.
An accident occurred around 9 a.m. involving multiple cars and two semis due to bad road conditions.
At 9:12 a.m. the highway between mile markers 57-61 was shut down.
Charlotte Police say it was because of 2 semis colliding at the intersection of I-69 and M-50. One rolled over and the other one jackknifed by the on ramp. The rolled over semi-truck was carrying gallons of milk. Drivers of both trucks were sent to the hospital for injuries.
Police say that snow was definitely a factor in the crash that happened just before 9 in the morning.
The police say that the highway will remain closed for a couple more hours.
The sheriff's office is reporting that another accident occurred further south of Charlotte as well.
This crash happened just south of 5-Point Highway and involved two semi-trucks rolled over into the median. One driver was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
The sheriff isn't saying what caused the crash at this time, but they are speculating that it could have been the weather or slowed traffic from the other accident on the highway.
