UPDATE: Names released in fatal accident that killed 2 at a Lansing school

Lansing Police have released the names of the victims that were killed in a car crash Sunday night at an elementary school.

Forty-three year old, Jose Angel Aguilera of Weslaco, Texas and his passenger in the front seat of a SUV, 36-year-old Gardenia Herrera, also of Texas, are dead.

The three children in the vehicle are in critical condition.

This happened when their car crashed into Fairview Elementary School on Sunday night.

Police tell FOX 47 that the car hit the Northwest section of the school around 11 p.m. and hit the building head on.

Police say a neighbor called the police when he heard an explosion and the children crying.

Gardenia Herrera died at the scene.

And Aguilera died died Monday morning at a hospital.

A five year old boy who is the couple's son, an eleven year old girl and a twelve year old girl all suffered life threatening injuries.

Police aren't sure why Aguilera was driving so fast or on school property. They also said that the family was visiting from Texas.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and that Aguilera had been drinking.

An investigation is ongoing right now.
