LANSING, Mich. — Lansing police have released the name of the man who was killed by a train on Tuesday.
Steve Michael Lawson, 64 of Lansing, was hit by a train Tuesday morning and died.
It happened at approximately 10:21 Tuesday on Michigan Avenue near Hill St.
When the police arrived they found an unresponsive man near the railroad tracks with multiple injuries.
Lawson was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The train blocked multiple roads, as big as Pennsylvania Ave. and Michigan, due to the accident.
Police alerted the public at that time that all lanes of Michigan Ave. were closed between Larch St. and Hosmer St. and to seek an alternate route.
The roads were able to reopen shortly after 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon.
