The mother of the dead baby found in a shallow grave in Jackson County has been charged in connection with his death.
22-year-old Brittani Hill was charged with concealing the death of her son Matthew Hill, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Hill was also charged with removing a dead body without a medical examiner's permission, a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison.
Prosecutors tell FOX 47 News Hill is currently pregnant. She remained quiet throughout Friday's arraignment, only replying "yes" to acknowledge she understood the charges. The 22-year-old did tell the judge she currently lives in Ohio, only lived in Michigan for a few months and does not have a job.
The Prosecuting Attorney asked the judge for a $1 million bond saying Hill has no ties to the community, has been moving from state to state since February 2016 when he alleges the incident occurred. His other concern is that Hill is currently pregnant.
Hill's bond was set at $500,000.
