LANSING, Mich. — A mother reported missing in Lansing has been found and has been arrested, according to Lansing police.

Ashley Shade had been missing since March 18. Her newborn baby was found dead inside a car in Lansing a day later.

The body of the infant is undergoing a toxicology report.

Thursday morning police announced Shade had been found and was arrested in north Lansing Wednesday night "on outstanding previous criminal charges from several jurisdictions," a news release said.

Those jurisdictions include Eaton and Ingham County, as well as Meridian Township.

'To locate her involved many people including the community and other agencies. A collaboration of multiple, a lot of people and a lot of resources went into looking for her," said Robert Merritt, a spokesperson with the Lansing Police Department.

She was later arraigned Thursday morning for failure to appear in court for a different case.

Police said Shade gave birth at home and did not seek medical attention for herself or the baby.

Her family previously said she hid her pregnancy.

Her daughter's body was found March 19 in Shade's car near the corner of Washington Avenue and Kilborn Street, south of Old Town.

The cause of death has not been determined.

The case that brought Shade in front of a judge on Thursday was for an assault and battery charge from June 2016.

That case lists Whitney Lockner, Shade's sister, as filing the complaint after Shade punched her several times in the face.

This allegedly happened while Shade was driving a car and Lockner was in the passenger seat. They were arguing and Shade began punching her, and according to the complaint, said "she was going to beat her ass."

The sister was dropped off at Shade's home on Willow Street and called the police.

She refused treatment and was driven to her home on Lyons Avenue.

At the arraignment on Thursday, Magistrate Millmore set Shade's bond at is $11,000.00 Cash/Surety.

Her next scheduled appearance in 54-A District court on is on 4/9/19 @ 10:30 a.m.
