UPDATE: Missing person investigation turns into homicide case

Posted

Lansing police investigating a missing person report found the body of a 66-year-old man in his home.

Timothy Southwell's co-workers went to police headquarters Wednesday because he'd missed work for a few days.

Officers went to his home on Smith Avenue where they found a 27-year-old man who needed medical attention for self-inflicted injuries. Officers says he would not cooperate with them. As they searched the house they found Southwell's body.

The Ingham County Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide Friday morning. Police have not released the cause of death.

Southwell was related to the 27-year-old man who was in the home. That man was arrested on an unrelated charge and is considered a person of interest in the homicide case.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
