UPDATE: Michigan Avenue back open after gas line rupture

Posted

Michigan Avenue in Lansing is back open after construction crews hit a gas line between Foster and Magnolia Tuesday morning.

Consumers Energy spokesman Terry DeDoes says an excavator ruptured a two inch gas main around 9:42 a.m. No customers lost power, and no one was injured, Dedoes said. The Lansing Fire Department did evacuate two people from a nearby business.

Around 11:20 a.m, Consumers Energy crews were able to stop the flow of gas. DeDoes expects crews to be on scene until the early afternoon.

The rupture had closed down East Michigan Avenue for about an hour and a half.
