EATON RAPIDS, Mich. — Police have been on a manhunt for most of Wednesday, searching for a man with felony charges.

It all started early on Wednesday when the man, police are describing as a fugitive, fled from a home around 6:30 a.m.

The MSP Fugitive Team, along with MSP K9s have been out looking for him in the area of S. Smith Road near Bunker Highway. Bunker Hwy north of Eaton Rapids.

They say he is armed and dangerous and that people in the area should lock their doors.

"It's really kind of scary to know that I could be out working in my garden and there is a man hunt, we're used to a little bit more peace and quiet," Bev Uschuk, a neighbor said.

Michigan State Police say they executed a search warrant for Joshawa Vergason in the morning.

He is described as a white male, 23 years old, last seen wearing no shirt or shoes.

If you notice someone matching his description, call 9-1-1 and they say do not approach.
