A 35-year-old man has died from his injuries after suffering severe burns when a boat he was working on with his father exploded.
Police have identified the 35-year-old man as Lawrence Piette, Jr.
The explosion happened just after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Buelow Road and Jonesville Road in Hillsdale County.
Police say the men were making some repairs on the boat's motor when it burst into flames.
Piette,Jr. was pulled from the boat by his 62-year-old father, Lawrence Piette.
Piette suffered major burns and was transported to Hillsdale Hospital by Reading Emergency Ambulance before being transferred to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
He's still in the hospital in serious condition.
