A 29-year-old man has been arraigned on an open murder charge for the death of a man in Eaton County.
Joseph Sadlak, of Lowell, was charged with open murder in the death of a 44-year-old man, Clinton Billy Decker.
Sadlak is lodged in Eaton County Jail without bond.
Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich tells News 10 that Decker lived at the house in the 1600 block of East Grand Ledge Highway in Oneida Township where his body was found inside a bedroom Sunday night.
Reich says this was not a random crime. Sadlak and Decker were acquaintances, and Sadlak was visiting Decker at his home that night.
The Eaton County Sheriff's Office said Sadlak led investigators to the home after someone called 911 [wilx.com] after seeing Sadlak acting suspiciously along the highway.
Investigators are still looking for a motive. Reich said force and violence was used against Decker but a medical examiner will determine how exactly he died.
The Eaton County Prosecutor's Office and the county's sheriff's office say Sadlak didn't have a criminal history aside from tickets.
His next court date is Dec. 17.
Decker was listed as a sex offender, convicted in 2001.
