FOX 47 has talked to the family of the teen that was killed Monday morning by a driver outside of the Faster Horses venue.

Investigators say alcohol appears to be a factor in an accident that killed Makayla Hostetler, of Mason.

Authorities were called to Brooklyn Highway, north of US 12 at 4:19 a.m on July 23 for a report of pedestrians who were hit by a car.

19-year-old Makayla was pronounced dead at the scene. A male was also struck and was flown by helicopter to a hospital in critical condition.

The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office says a 17-year-old male from Adrian was behind the wheel of the car.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether the victims were in the roadway, or if the vehicle crossed a fog line.

Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Michigan International Speedway over the weekend for the Faster Horses Country Music Festival.
