The Waverly golf course, which closed 11 years ago, has been sold.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor announced on Wednesday that the sale on the property had closed.
The sale includes the former Waverly Golf Course and Michigan Avenue Park, and the price tag...$2.2 million.
The property hosts just over 120 acres off Saginaw Street and Waverly Road.
Voters approved the sale of the land in 2012.
"Today we finalized the sale of the old Waverly Golf Course property, which has been ongoing for quite some time," said Mayor Andy Schor. "I'm happy that we were able to finalize this deal and raise $2.2 million for the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department."
The township supported the sale and agreed to rezoning to provide for commercial and residential developments.
Northern Capitol Investments purchased the property and plans to build homes, town homes, duplexes and apartments. There are also plans for senior housing.
They are a Grand Rapids based company.
The first phase of redevelopment will get underway this year -- with commercial and retail space along Saginaw Highway.
The profit of the sale will go toward the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department.
