Owners of a home that caught fire Sunday night tried to put out the fire themselves with a garden house.
Firefighters arrived arrived to the "Cape Cod-style" home just before 11 p.m. Sunday night on Lenawee Street, on the city's Southwest side .
Lansing Fire PIO, Steve Mazurek, told FOX 47 that there was a lot of smoke making it hard to locate the fire.
They found it in the wall and he said it was hard to put out.
There is extensive damage to the upper part of the house and smoke and water damage on the main floor.
In the video, you can see black smoke rising from the second floor window.
Nobody was hurt, however, one firefighter was treated at the scene for over exertion.
There is no cause yet for the fire but it is under investigation.
The occupants may received assistance from the Red Cross as the home is heavily damaged.
