UPDATE: Shooter identified as 16-year-old boy

LANSING, Mich. — The Ingham County Sheriff's Office has identified the shooter as a 16-year-old male in a shooting that happened outside a gas station sending a woman to the hospital.

The teen was a passenger in the vehicle where the incident occurred and the shooting is believed to be accidental.

He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm causing injury and is lodged at the Ingham County Youth Center.
The teen's name will not be released.

The shooting happened at the Speedway on Jolly Road and Dunckel Road in Delhi Township around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Sheriff's deputies arrived to the scene and located blood outside of the store, but the victim and shooter had left already the area.

A short time later deputies were called to a local hospital where a victim reported being shot.

The 24-year-old female from Lansing was shot in her arm. The wound was non-life threatening.

According to Ingham County Sheriff's Office, the woman was the driver of the vehicle at Speedway, and her three passengers have been identified and have given statements.

According to Ingham County Sheriff's Office, the shooting appears to have occurred inside the victim's vehicle and was not random.
