A man wanted out of Lansing is behind bars following an hours-long standoff at a Motel 6 on Monday night.

It started about 4:10 p.m. and lasted until 10:30 at night.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office says they got a tip on Monday, Sept. 3, from Crime Stoppers about a wanted fugitive that was currently staying at the motel on West Saginaw Highway in Delta Township.

Sheriff's deputies were able to verify which room the suspect was staying in and attempted to negotiate to get him out of the room. The Eaton County Sheriff's Office says the suspect did not cooperate.

Eventually, deputies from the Sheriff's Special Response Team busted the door down to get to the suspect.

The 29-year-old man was taken into custody and the motel was evacuated due to the nature of the suspect's warrants.

A weapon was recovered from the motel room along with a small quantity of narcotics.

It was a handgun with a high capacity magazine

No shots were fired and no one was hurt.

The Delta Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police assisted the Eaton County Sheriff's Office in the apprehension of the suspect along with the Special Response Team.

The man was turned over to the Lansing Police Department because they had a warrant out for his arrest for a felonious assault charge. He also had warrants out from other agencies.
