Police have confirmed that a shooting took place at 7:11 a.m. on Wednesday on the 700 block of Cleveland Street and a 27-year-old man was fatally shot.

FOX 47's Carla Bayron was at the scene and talked to the family of the victim. His brother told us that the victim was a Lansing Eastern High graduate, and that he played on the varsity basketball team, even started as a freshman. He described his brother as a great kid. He is in disbelief that this happened.

The brother said that he doesn't know who could have done this. He did tell Bayron that his brother was at the house on Cleveland visiting an ex-girlfriend and the shooter was already there.

After the shooting, police were dispatched to a single car accident on 127 near Dunckel Road. They discovered that another driver stopped to help a vehicle that was in the median and got carjacked.

State Police were able to stop and take into custody the person that carjacked the car in Livingston County.

Putting it all together - the vehicle that was left at the scene in the single car accident, matches the description of the vehicle that fled the shooting on Cleveland Street. And the suspect in the carjacking fits the description of the shooter.
