LANSING, Mich. — Workers will be back on the job at all 4 local General Motors plants as of Thursday night. GM suspended production at the Delta Township, Lansing Grand River, Lansing Grand River Stamping and Lansing Regional Stamping Wednesday after Consumers Energy as businesses to reduce their natural gas usage. The request came after a fire at a gas compression facility in Macomb County caused supply problems.
GM resumed operations at Lansing Regional Stamping with Thursday's 2nd shift. Third shift workers were told to report to Grand River Stamping on Thursday night. Third shift maintenance and skilled trades were told to report to the Delta Township and Grand River Assembly plants on Thursday as well.
Full assembly operations will resume at Delta Township on Friday. Assembly operations resume at Grand River on Monday. All skilled trades and maintenance workers should report to LGR on Friday.
GM is telling employees at the Global Tech Center in Warren, the Pontiac Engineering Center and CCA-Grand Blanc to continue working from home on Friday. Office workers have been told to return on Monday.
