UPDATE: 4 people injured after shooting in Lansing

Posted

The Lansing Police Department is investigating an incident where four people ended up with gunshot wounds Sunday morning.

Police said there was a party being thrown on the corner of Spring and River Street which is north of Elm Park just off the Red Cedar River. That's the area where they also found shell casings, evidence of a shooting. Witnesses told police that an altercation happened during a party that escalated to shots fired.

After reports of shots fired, officers responded to the scene around 3:30 AM and found a 29-year-old man who had been shot in his leg. He was taken to the hospital. He didn't want to share with the cops how he was shot or who did it.

Meanwhile, two other victims showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds. Officers met with these men, a 30-year-old man and a 44-year-old man, both from Lansing. They told police that they ran when shots were fired and were struck in the leg and had no idea who the shooter was.

A fourth victim was later brought to the hospital hours later. He also had a gunshot wound to his leg. The 47-year-old man from Lansing ended up having his wound be just a graze. He did tell police that he was at the party when gunshots rang out. He said that he ran, and did not realize he was struck until sometime later.

Lansing Police continue to investigate this shooting and interview witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Baldwin at 517-483-6846 or Lansing Police at 517-483-4600
