The University of Michigan health system will have to pay more than $4 million dollars for its lax handling of opioids.
The DEA started investigating after two staff overdosed in December of 2013. One of them died. The DEA found several violations of the controlled substances act including how opioids were dispensed to patients as well as record-keeping violations.
