Posted

The Capital Area United Way kicked off its 2018 community campaign at the Lansing School Board meeting Thursday night.

Lansing school Superintendent Yvonne Caamal Canul is one of the campaign co-chairs. She says this annual fundraiser goes a long way to helping a lot of people in the Greater Lansing community.

"The whole community benefits from the United Way and this is really a hallmark of the giving community that we live in, in Lansing," Camaal Canul said.

The goal for this year's campaign is more than $3 million, which Caamal Canul says will be easily reached.

The money raised will be invested back into the community in a number of ways.
