LANSING, Mich. — More bad news for factory workers in Michigan as U.S. Steel is laying off 200 employees.
The temporary layoffs are taking place at the Great Lakes Works Factory near Detroit.
The furloughs began in July and will continue through September.
A dwindling market for steel is prompting U.S. Steel to cut back.
It is a decision first announced in June -- when the company also said staffing at its Gary, Indiana plant would be adjusted.
U.S. Steel has not said when production levels could return to normal.
