An accident in Ionia Co. happened after a woman failed to stop at a stop sign.

It happened on June 11 around 3:48 p.m. near the intersection of S. Whites Bridge Rd and Sayles Rd in Keene Township.

Officers responded to a report of a two-car personal injury accident that was reported to 9-1-1.

Due to the reported extent of the injuries, Aero med was called to assist.

Deputies have determined that a 2015 Ford Explorer that was being driven by a 57-year-old Lowell woman, failed to stop for a stop sign while heading northbound on Whites Bridge Road and Sayles Rd.

Once the Explorer crossed into the intersection, it was hit by a 2005 Subaru Legacy. The Legacy was driven by a 22-year-old man from Lowell.

Both vehicles managed to slide into the ditch after impact.

After assessment of the patient, Aero med was disregarded and the driver of the Ford SUV was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Subaru suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Grand Rapids area hospital by family.
