LANSING, Mich. — Police have confirmed a fire in Delhi Township has sent one elderly man to the hospital.

Delhi Township Fire Chief Brian Ball said a call for the fire came in around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. He said the fire took place at a one-story ranch home located on Auburn Avenue in Holt.

Chief Ball confirmed the fire started in the basement of the home in a living area with a bedroom. He said it appears the fire started in the living area.

The elderly man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and "very minor burns" and is still in the hospital, Ball said.

Ball said there were two other people in the house, an elderly female and an elderly man, who got out of the house right away and were not injured.

The chief said the Delhi Fire, Lansing Fire and Mason Fire Department all responded to the scene.

At this time, Ball said the cause of the fire is still unknown and is under investigation.
