Two killed in wrong-way crash on U.S. 127

LEONI TWP., Mich. (WSYM) - Police believe alcohol was a factor in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 127 north that killed two drivers Friday night.

Witnesses told police they saw a woman driving a Mini-Cooper south in the northbound lanes just after 8 p.m. Officers the woman hit an SUV, killing both drivers.

Police are identifying the driver of the Mini-Cooper as a 50-year-old woman from Parma Township, and the driver of the SUV as a 42-year-old man from Hudson.

Three passengers in the SUV were taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health, but are expected to survive.

Blackman-Leoni Public Safety say this is the 3rd serious accident its officers responded to in a 24-hour period, resulting in a total of 3 fatalities and 1 person suffering life-threatening injuries.
