NORTHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WSYM) - Multiple vehicles were involved in a fatal wrong-way crash in the southbound lanes of US-23 Sunday.
The crashes happened around 2:45 p.m. near 6 Mile Road in Northfield Township when Washtenaw County Central Dispatchers began receiving reports of a wrong way driver.
A 74-year-old man driving the wrong way in a Chevy Bolt crashed into a Ford Fusion with three people inside.
Two other vehicles also become involved in the crashes.
The two passengers inside the Ford Fusion were pronounced dead at the scene.
The 74-year-old wrong way driver is hospitalized in serious condition along with the driver of the Ford Fusion.
All occupants involved were taken to U of M hospital.
Michigan State Police continue to investigate the crash.
