LANSING, Mich. — As record-breaking, bitterly cold weather grips the Midwest, and people are advised to stay off the roads.
Truckers, however, don't have an option.
They'll have to brave the roads in 80,000 pound vehicles that can tip over.
It can be a challenge to keep them under control in the snow.
Even seasoned drivers say they get nervous during winter, especially when it's icy.
Another concern for truck drivers is that diesel can freeze in below-zero temps or when trucks are sitting for long periods. In order to prevent that, many drivers pour a can of special gel into their tanks.
