LANSING, Mich. — Truckers Against Trafficking is meeting with law enforcement and other groups to discuss sexual exploitation.
The briefing is being hosted in collaboration with the Michigan Office of the Attorney General, Michigan Trucking Association, Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Conversations at the briefing will discuss local law enforcement issues related to child sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Participants of the briefing will also learn about the realities of domestic forced prostitution and the role the trucking industry can play in combating it.
Because truck drivers, both local and on the run, are often in places where these crime occur such as truck stops, gas stations and rest areas where law enforcement are not present, professional drivers have the unique opportunity to report these crimes as they are taking place.
Participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
Attendance at the briefing is by invitation only and lunch will be provided.
