The funeral for slain Virginia State Trooper and Jackson native Chad Dermyer will be held today in Hampton, Virginia.
Dermyer was shot and killed last Thursday after approaching a man during a training exercise at the Richmond Greyhound station.
Friends, family and fellow officers gather Monday for Dermyer's visitation.
He served as a Patrol Officer for the Jackson Police Department from 2008 to 2011, and attended Columbia Central High School.
Dermyer is survived by his wife and two children.
