Trial scheduled to begin for man charged with driving into health office building

The trial for the man accused of ramming his car into a local medical office nearly three years ago is scheduled to begin Monday morning.

46-year-old Derrick Carter is charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder.

Three people were injured, including two critically when Carter allegedly crashed his car into the Mid-Michigan Physicians building on Lake Lansing Road in Lansing Township back on November 18, 2015.

Carter faces up to life in prison if convicted.

His trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina's courtroom in Ingham County at 9 a.m. Monday.
