The Northern Tier Trail improvement project is underway.
The Kalamazoo St. pedestrian bridge is closed for the project.
The trail is closed along Kalamazoo St. from Marigold Ave. to Clippert Street.
The bike lane is also closed and the Lansing River Trail from Clippert St. to the bridge.
There is a detour in place that follows Clippert St. to Michigan Ave. to Harrison Rd. to Kalamazoo Street.
The work is expected to be completed by late August.
The money for the project was awarded to the East Lansing Department of Parks and Rec from the Ingham County Trails and Parks Millage. The amount awarded was $1,526,089. This was in the form of a grant to repair or replace six pedestrian bridges and make surface improvements.
The White Park Bridge will be worked on next and is expected to be completed in September 2018.
