Toyota on fast track to offer ABS

Posted

Toyota says it will beat a government deadline to make automatic emergency braking standard on most of it's cars.

The automaker says it will require the safety feature in 25 of its thirty Toyota and Lexus models by the end of next year.

That's five years earlier than the deal struck last week with the U.S. government and 19 other car makers.

Experts say standardizing automatic emergency brakes will cut the number of rear-end collisions by up to 40% a year.
